Jamie Scott Dying in a Mississippi Prison - Inadequate Health Care for Kidney Failure

HELP is urgently needed for Jamie Scott, a Mississippi prison inmate who is dying from inadequate of health care. Her kidneys failed, and she needs to be moved to a hospital immediately. Jamie and Gladys Scott are two African American women who were condemned to life in prison over an $11 theft that they disclaim having done. The taxpayers in Mississippi are condemned right along with the Scott sisters, as they have the burden of paying for this EXCESSIVE SENTENCING that has already continued for 15 years. Please read the urgent cry for help below and give your assistance.
.
It is important and commendable to rush aid to Haiti where people are in serious peril and need immediate health care after the earthquake. It is wrong to do less for Jamie Scott, whose health care is the responsibility of the government that deprives her of the freedom to work and provide her own medical coverage because of wrongful and/or excessive prison sentencing.

David Hope Rosser urges our support.
1/18/10 EMERGENCY ACTION ALERT!

Mrs. Rasco just received a phone call from Gladys Scott that both of Jamie Scott's kidneys have shut down and that she has been in the prison infirmary since last Saturday hooked up to IV fluids with a heavy build-up of toxins in her body. Jamie has yet to be sent to a hospital due to "paperwork." Jamie pleaded that Gladys not contact their mother because she didn't want to burden her with any more worry on top of caring for all of the children.

Gladys has offered to donate a kidney to Jamie and was told that she cannot because she is a state prisoner and was told that it would be too expensive. The greatest heartbreak of all is that Jamie has asked to be allowed to die because she wants to come home so badly and no longer believes that it will ever happen.

JAMIE SCOTT, #19197, MUST BE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL IMMEDIATELY! Her physical and mental state require the highest levels of professional care.

We are going to enlarge our efforts the following ways right now: We must include the media and politicians in our calls/letters.

*******************
America's attention is on health care. However, inmates across the nation are suffering and there are many preventable deaths. It was reported that seven inmates died in California in 2008 from tooth decay when infection from their rotten teeth entered their bloodstreams.
.
In addition to inmates having inadequate medical care, psychiatric care is also inadequate. Jamie's sister, Gladys, reported that Jamie is losing her will to live due to depression following 15 years of incarceration for a crime the sisters deny doing. Suicide is high among inmates, particularly those who are tortured by solitary confinement. Sixty percent of inmates in solitary are mentally ill people who should be either hospitalized or released from prison to be treated under an outpatient commitment program in their communities, depending on their offenses and their ability to survive outside of a controlled environment. Unfortunately, some mentally ill Americans are imprisoned without being charged for any crime whatsoever. This started long BEFORE the Patriot Act: www.jstor.org/pss/795072
Please see the index on the left margin of http://freespeakblog.blogspot.com/ for more articles having to do with human rights for prisoners and other issues with significant impact on life in America.
.
Excessive sentencing and wrongful convictions should not continue to claim lives of U.S. citizens. See more about the Jamie and Gladys Scott case at these sites:

It's incredible what happens with Jamie Scott. I was looking for information about it but I didn't find anything that satisfied my expectations, until you public this in your blog. If we could do something to this not happen again will be wonderful. Also I would like to add the quantity of buy viagra blogs that I've had to dodge to find the precise information.
