(11 links, 3 photos) OCCUPY WALL STREET should demand that decision makers choose between their government jobs and their corporate affiliations. Corporations got tax cuts and bail-outs while Americans got left out. To reverse that, only one change is necessary: DEMAND THAT ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS DIVEST THEMSELVES OF CORPORATE STOCK. Three main reasons for America's economic woes are wars, mass incarceration, and outsourcing jobs to prisons and overseas. Corporations benefit by all of these. Officials are not inclined to vote against their own wallets and stock portfolios. Decision makers who own stock that performs best during wars or because of high incarceration benefit by continuing those conditions. That is why wars escalate, environmental protections suffer, and corporate interests are prioritized over Americans regardless of what political party is dominant or the races of decision makers. Simply put, our representatives and other decision makers ARE the 1%.
America has many problems, but only ONE SOLUTION that will address them all. Our elected and appointed officials must DIVEST themselves of corporate stock or RESIGN from office. Few people are patriotic or humane enough to vote against government actions that are earning them millions. It constitutes a major conflict of interest for decision makers who own or invest in corporations to vote for or against government programs that impact corporate earnings.

Americans are in this grievous position because decision makers serve their bank accounts rather than constituents. As corporate owners and stockholders, they have a serious conflict of interest representing the People. Remove the conflict and eliminate the problem. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves [and us] through with many sorrows ~ 1 Timothy 6:10.Today I am with the Occupy Wall Street Atlanta protesters in the 100 block of Peachtree Street in Troy Davis Park, as it was renamed by the Occupy Atlanta. It was formerly Woodruff Park. Mayor Reed announced that he will not order Occupy Atlanta protesters forcibly removed until Monday, October 17 in order to prevent their removal from casting a negative shadow on the dedication ceremony of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Memorial in Washington, D.C. on October 16. Having people speak at the King Memorial who have no interest in protecting or promoting peace or civil and human rights, especially for blacks, already overshadows the event.

Interesting. I published this article on Oct. 11, 2011, in my MaryLovesJustice blog. I then shortened it to a handout size that I could fit on the front and back of a half page (8 1/2" x 11") and pass out downtown Atlanta to the Occupy protesters and participants at their march. I had to pay at Kinkos on Peachtree, directly across the street from the "nonexistent" Atlanta office of The Cochran Firm to add the paragraph about FredVMan's offer to televise the Occupy protesters' point of view. Now, because of the IP Protection Act that is before Congress, the game seems to be to send people to claim ownership of my original content.
H.R.3261 and S.968 were introduced in Congress in 2011, supposedly to protect intellectual property. Some people have websites that publish movies and videos without permission. But I knew the bills would be used for censorship against dissidents, and I was right. The gov can have someone claim ownership of bloggers' original content or articles in independent online news (that really publishes uncensored news (few)), and quicker than fleas land on a dog's back in summer, the Justice Department can delete blogs used for to report government abuses and ask for positive change. What a shame. It is not hard for agents to produce "proof" that they published a work before the real author, I perceive. I have written almost exclusively about money being the root of all evil regarding criminalizing mental illness, high incarceration numbers, and injustice in courtrooms for over six years - hundreds of articles. In January 2011, I started the Boycott 4 Justice initiative, requesting that Americans stop shopping for just 24 hours a month on the 9th to protest corporate greed and government misdeeds. I feel that there is unity between government officials and corporations that the People lack, and I have written much about that. Now, suddenly, with H.R.3261 looming in Congress, none of that is my idea and I copy off other writers. This is what happens when people stop going to Church. Jesus, have mercy. Lord, I know the Rapture is coming soon. Here we are perhaps on the verge of WWIII, Congress just passed a scary bill allowing indefinite detention of Americans without trial, and a person comes to claim my blog. Swing low, sweet chariot. Jesus is coming for His church soon. Watch out, bloggers and independent news sites. They will come claim your creative product soon, and I don't know if you will have a chance to protest before Mr. Holder removes your websites. That is how they will remove dissidents from the Internet. Sweet Jesus. These End Times are scary.
what is so scary about being asked to just sign a petition? I stopped in here today because I was going to say that yes I can't possibly be the only person who realizes that the answer to our problems was divest and resign (I hope)and I was stopping back here to apologize. As far as concerns about "stealing Work" I do not think one could copyright a request to congress to divest or resign:) I remain steadfastly hopeful that as difficult as it is to get many to grasp just why and how important this is that it will nonetheless take hold. Perhaps we could join forces? I will try to remember to look for messages tomorrow.
Ms. Tea, thank you for writing the three comments above. You tipped us off that S.968 and/or H.R.3261 will pass in Congress. If Congress passes bills to put the Internet in America under the Injustice Dept., supposedly to protect intellectual property, we now know how the government intends to excuse taking down websites with original content like mine. CoIntelPro agents will simply claim that their work was plagiarized. The agents may even have fabricated "proof" of the infringement they claim, if any proof is needed. I do not know if people will have the opportunity to answer plagiarism allegations or if the USDOJ will just order the websites that contain censored information taken offline without any due process. No due process is even applied to my disabled brother's murder in the USA.

You accused me of 1)stealing your idea; 2) stealing your study notes. What study notes? Wouldn't I need to come to your home or office to get your study notes? Now you claim you only asked me to sign a petition. That is ridiculous with your accusation clear in the comments above.
I posted "Divest or Resign" on OWSAtlanta's wall. I don't know if it stayed there or not, because I have stalkers. I also delivered hundreds of copies directly into the hands of people at OWSAtlanta and supporters during a march. I exchanged phone numbers and other information with dozens of people who can verify that fact. However, as stated, I do not believe the USDOJ would be fair enough to allow targeted people to defend their websites against phony intellectual property infringement allegations. The purpose of those bills is probably to rid the Internet of voices of dissent, scrub the Internet clean of police brutality videos, give encumbents the power to limit their political opponents' access to mass media, and reduce public visibility of start-up companies that threaten existing corporations.
Thank you for showing us how websites with original content will be taken offline under the IP Protection Act and E-Parasite Act, if they pass. Just send an agent to claim the work is theirs. Pitiful.
