Detroit residents fight back over water shutoff: 'It's a life-or-death situation' ~ The beleaguered city says a water shutoff is essential to recoup $89m in overdue bills. But the decision has outraged thousands of Detroiters – who have taken matters into their own hands . . . For $20, they will use their tools to turn the water main back on immediately, and illegally, sparing the household the agonizing days spent without showering, cooking or flushing that have already been endured by at least 16,000 of their neighbors so far this year.
Welcome to Detroit's water war – in which upward of 150,000 customers, late on bills that have increased 119 percent in the last decade, are now threatened with shut-offs. Local activists estimate this could impact nearly half of Detroit's mostly poor and black population – between 200,000 and 300,000 people.

Most African American voters in Detroit likely voted for the president and other Democrats - twice. While they live without water, the president recently asked Congress for $3.7 BILLION to provide Central American refugees illegally flooding our borders with food, housing, clothes, education, health care, and yes - WATER.
