Two African American men who recently died in police custody apparently had talents that Houdini would have envied. Denver police shot a man who was under arrest and being transported to jail. They say the shooting was justified because the man "slipped out of his handcuffs" and attacked an officer. Another man who could have had a gifted career as an escape artist, according to the police report, was Chavis Carter. Jonesboro, Arkansas police said Carter shot himself after being searched twice, handcuffed behind his back, and double locked inside of a police car. Carter allegedly committed suicide without "slipping out of his handcuffs" like the Denver man was reported to have accomplished. Furthermore, police allege that Carter shot himself in his right temple, although Carter's mother says that he was left-handed. Carter's death is being investigated by the FBI, but his mother mistakenly contracted with The Cochran Firm frauds as her legal agents. There have been roughly 125 deaths of African Americans so far in 2012 under the color of law. Many of them are suspicious deaths. It is shameful for black media companies and my readers to allow victims' families to contract with The Cochran Firm attorneys who repeatedly defraud grieving survivors in wrongful death cases.
