Two African American men who recently died in police custody apparently had talents that Houdini would have envied. Denver police shot a man who was under arrest and being transported to jail. They say the shooting was justified because the man "slipped out of his handcuffs" and attacked an officer. Jonesboro, Arkansas police said Carter shot himself after being searched twice, handcuffed behind his back, and double locked inside of a police car. Carter allegedly committed suicide without "slipping out of his handcuffs" like the Denver man was reported to have accomplished. Furthermore, police allege that Carter shot himself in his right temple, although Carter's mother says that he was left-handed. It is shameful for black media companies and my readers to allow victims' families to contract with The Cochran Firm attorneys who repeatedly defraud grieving survivors in wrongful death cases.
